I was able to do it without a problem before, when I changed Joomla 3 to 4 recently.I have never heard of this? On a normal server shared or not this is not the case. You have a many posts about fundamentally the same problem moving sites from Wamp to live server,it should be seamless!!!The hosting said that everytime I empty the public_html folder, I have to change PHP version because it resets to default 5.6.4.
Who are you hosting with?
I only had a problem when I did it in a folder for a subdomain within public_html, and it got resolved with renaming .htaccess.
It is a hosting company in Spain, webempresa.
