General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Odd url redirection problem

Hello, I have updated an existing Joomla site. All the links are now different. I have a customised URL 404 error page to capture calls to the previous URLs.

This works with incorrect versions of new links. Or daft URLs e.g. /xxxx etc But if someone types in an old link in Google they get a message that the webpage does not exist.

So something is happening with the old URLs that presumably are still in the Joomla database?

Any thoughts?
