The plugin says:

Provides page caching. This is only suitable for sites that have static content or content that does not change frequently.

Even if our main content is mainly static i think that perhaps som module or some other plugin makes the pages count as "unique" and that makes the pages count as different pages. We have for example "latest forum threads" as a module.

We have been using this setting/plugin for our site since Joomla 2 or 3 so didn't think it would be the reason for huge cache.

Hopefully everything is solved now.
