I am curious about the relationship (or design considerations, if you wish) between a Menu Item and its Sub Menus.
I use the Cassiopeia collapsible drop down menues.
It works such that if I click the menu - The mainMenu item opens.
If I click the drop-down triangle - The subMenues open in a drop-down fashion.
There I can continue by selecting one of the subMenue items.
Fair enough.
BUT, somehow, before you click anywhere, you have to decide whether you want to open the main menu item or one of the sub menu items (whithout yet knowing what the sub menu options are). To me that seems irrational.
It seems that a more logical solution would be that a menu, when clicked, would open all possible options in a drop-down menu (including the main), (when the menu in question has sub menus).
That is, clicking on the main menu, or the drop-down triangle, should result in the same drop down list that includes all available options. Why is that not the case?
P.S. (And ideally, shouldn't hoovering over the menu display the options without clicking at all?)
I am looking to understand why it works as it does?
And if I missed some option to make it work as I hoped it would work?
