I originally inherited an html site back in 2003 which I moved to Joomla in 2008 and copied it over to look exactly as the original - I was pretty proud of it back in the day however it was designed to sell books via Amazon. Amazon's changed a great deal since then, and the site's been sitting there not doing much for a few years, however we had a lot of fun putting articles about pet care and book reviews up, some of which are still pretty valid.
Amazon recently sent my customer an email saying that she needed to put a notice on saying that the site was an amazon reseller.. site is infopet[dot]co[dot]uk
I have literally revisited this over and over and over and over, and googled myself half blind trying to find a way in, but I cannot access the back end at all. I have an akeeba backup from 2022 - it was working then, it still is outwardly - (reason I didn't update to 4, I've been using wordpress more prolifically for 10 years I really didn't want to have to relearn all I had forgotten about templating in Joomla 4 as it appeared to have so many major changes over the previous version.
I have tried many many times over to 'kickstart' on my local machine. I have disabled and enabled authentication plugins, (the LDAP and authentication plugins as the issue seems to be one many others have had, but the solutions have not worked for me.) I have tried every version of php from 5.2 - 8 using xampp on my local machine, literally:
Error: Warning
Unable to connect to authentication service. I have also reset passwords and recreated / created accounts in the database.. ultimately, despite the site being several hundred pages worth, it'd have been quicker to recreate in WP than the time I have lost trying to fix it and googling supposed fixes that fail to work. Does anybody have a clue where I might start?
